Shazam gives new Apple Music subscribers 6-month free trial

If you wanted to check out Apple Music, now might be the best time for iOS users. Apple is extending its usual three-month subscription to a six-month one. But there's a catch; you'll need to sign up through music discovery app, Shazam. Open the said app, and then head to the Library section. The offer should be available there. Unfortunately, the same offer doesn't seem to be available for Shazam Android users.

Shazam gets support for Dark Mode on iOS

Shazam is the latest Apple app to get support for the popular Dark Mode feature. This Apple-owned song discovery app will show up in Dark Mode whenever the iPhone's Dark Mode is enabled, which is a feature that arrived with iOS 13. 

The update also lets you long-press on any track in the app to add it to your favourite streaming app or to share it with your friends. If you place two fingers anywhere on a list of tracks and swipe down to multi-select, you can add these to a playlist.

DC’s ‘Shazam’ gets new trailer

Ahead of the film’s release next month, we get to see a bit more of DC Comics superhero Shazam—and how he’s unlike the brooding characters we’ve come to expect from the DCEU. We get a quick look of how Billy Batson (Asher Angel) turns into adult superhero Shazam (Zachary Levi) and all the trouble he gets into trying to figure out his place in the world. We even get a cameo from a well-loved DC character, sort of. Batman appears in the form of a large plush toy as Shazam fights with some bad guys in a store. You can watch the full trailer above.

Latest 'Shazam' trailer sets us up for a lighthearted hero movie

It's hard to top Aquaman in terms of superhero movies but from what we can see from the "Shazam" trailer, we might be getting one of the most enjoyable and original superhero movies yet. Shot mostly in Toronto, 'Shazam' focuses on Billy Batson, a young boy who is given the magical powers of ancient gods. The trailer shows Batson's baby steps towards becoming a hero with his friends's help. If you liked Spider-Man: Homecoming, Shazam  seems to promise the same light-hearted entertainment. Shazam is played by Zachary Levy, whose work in Chuck was a cult favourite. 

One of the oldest superheros, Shazam's powers are quite epic and put him in the league of Superman and Wonder Woman. I'm interested to see how Shazam ties into the whole DC Universe and Justice League.
