Galaxy M30’s leaked specs suggests triple rear cameras coming to Samsung’s midrange line

While there isn’t any word yet if Samsung plans to bring its Galaxy M10 and M20 smartphones to this side of the world, the company is reportedly preparing another new model for this midrange line. And it seems Samsung is keeping to its word of bringing new tech into its midrange line. The M30 will reportedly have the same design as the M10 and M20, except this time, it’ll be packing a triple camera setup in the back. It’ll have a 13-megapixel main camera and two 5-megapixel shooters to accompany that. It’s said to be slightly longer and wider than the M20 and will have a 6.38-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. It’ll have a USB Type-C port, but it looks like it’ll be ditching the headphone jack.

Other rumoured specs include Exynos 7904 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and 5,000mAh battery. We don’t know yet if and when Samsung plans to launch this phone, but with these specs, it seems like a compelling device to have in any market.

Samsung Galaxy S10 will support Wi-Fi 6

With the Galaxy S10 launch just a few weeks away, the leaks just keep coming. This time, we find out from regulatory filings from the company that three models of the new line will support the new Wi-Fi 6 standard. It’s not something that’s widely available just yet (you’d need a Wi-Fi 6 router to take advantage of it), but in a way, it is future-proofing the phones. As The Verge explains, the Wi-Fi 6 standard isn’t meant to offer drastic speed gains for individual devices. The standard is meant to boost performance in homes or on Wi-Fi networks where a lot of devices are connected.

Samsung is rumoured to be launching not just the usual Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus, but also a lower-cost Galaxy S10 that’s being called the S10E or S10 Lite. We’re going to find out more when Samsung launches the phones on February 20^th.

New render shows what the LG G8 ThinQ might look like

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen renders for the upcoming LG flagship, but coming from the usually reliable XDA Developers team, we want to give it more of a benefit of the doubt than the others. The render doesn’t differ much from the others offered before, which suggests that the design wouldn’t look that different to the LG G7 ThinQ. LG Electronics Head of Global Corporate Communications Ken Hong has previously dismissed the earlier renders as “speculative” and “not real,” so you still need to take these renders with a grain of salt.

According to XDA, an “anonymous source” provided the design templates for these renders but they didn’t reveal new details about the phone’s internals. It’s said to be getting more advanced facial recognition, though. And one other rumoured feature coming to the phone is Sound on Display technology, where the screen’s vibrations will be used instead of a speaker (similar to what the Huawei Mate 20 Pro does). But that means there should be a smaller notch needed, since this could take away the speaker grille, and that is in contradiction with the render. What we do know is hover gestures might be coming to the new phone. LG is set to unveil its newest products at Mobile World Congress on February 24.

With CES 2019 done, we’re now gearing up for Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. But there’s been contradicting rumours about what one of the big companies are putting out at the show. A report claims LG has plans to release a smartphone with a foldable screen similar to what the ZTE Axon M does. LG is reportedly taking this route to help keep price down. Another report says the company plans to add the option for a second-screen attachment, which is going to be some sort of case and would then double the screen size of the phone. It isn’t clear how this will be implemented or what the device will be named. But it shows what the company might be willing to do to stay relevant in the smartphone space.
