Lenovo outs new Vibe and tablet-sized phones

Lenovo Vibe S1

Lenovo’s been busy at IFA with its whole slew of new smartphones. There are three new Vibe smartphones and two “phablet”-sized devices. The new Vibe phones include the S1, P1, and P1m. The Vibe S1 is the selfie-centric device with two front-facing cameras. It has an 8-megapixel camera for those HQ seflies and a 2-megapixel shooter for depth information. These two cameras work hand-in-hand for things like refocusing, cut-outs, and background blur, among others. It’s powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and 2,500mAh battery. It has a 5-inch 1080p display, 13-megapixel rear shooter, and LTE capability.

Newcomer NextBit to launch first smartphone next month

Who says the smartphone market is crowded? Apparently, it isn’t crowded enough. A newcomer with former Google and HTC executives running the company is looking to penetrate the mobile phone industry. NextBit, the company behind Baton a cloud-based tool to help you move files between Android devices, is planning to launch its own smartphone on September 1^st. There aren’t any leaks yet or details released by the company but according to Chief Executive and former Google exec Tom Moss, they’re trying something different with their devices because people are experiencing some sort of phone fatigue. In case you’re wondering, Moss is co-running the company with another former Google exec, Mike Chan, and with former HTC design chief Scott Croyle.

Motorola diversifies flagship line with new Moto X Play

London - The third generation Motorola Moto X was unveiled at an event here in London and it comes in two variants. The flagship is the Moto X Style and a mid-range model with similar specs but featuring a different processor is the Moto X Play. 

Moto X Play comes to Canada this August on Bell Mobility, Koodo, TELUS, Videotron and Wind Mobile. In Canada, Moto X Play will cost about $400 off contract. Hit jump for more details.
