BlackBerry announced that  customers in Canada will be able to purchase SIM-unlocked GSM models of the BlackBerry Z30, BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry Q5 smartphones directly from BlackBerry on the ShopBlackBerry.com site for Canada at http://ca.ShopBlackBerry.com.

LG debuts L Series III smartphones ahead of MWC 2014

 

LG wants to be top of mind before Mobile World Congress with debut of new L Series III smartphone line. The L40, L70, and L90 aims to target users from the emerging markets. All devices run on Android 4.4 KitKat and 1.2GHz dual-core or quad-core processors. Screen sizes range from 4.5 inches to 4.7 inches. RAM starts at 512MB to 1GB and memory is either 4GB or 8GB. Do not expect the devices to be LTE capable though.

Microsoft looks to buy your tablet or smartphone for up to $250

Looking to buy a new Microsoft device or a Surface 2, specifically? The Redmond, Washington-based technology company is offering to buy your tablet or smartphone for up to $250. But that amount will only be usable at the Microsoft Store. The offer is valid until March 2, 2014 or “while supplies last.” You can also only avail the promo at select Microsoft retail stores in Canada and the US (including Puerto Rico). Sony reportedly releasing Windows Phone device in 2014

There are a flurry of Android smartphones from the Japanese tech brand but it looks like Sony plans to build a Windows Phone-powered line in the coming year. Ubergizmo reports the IT company will release a Windows Phone device in the middle of 2014. Microsoft is supposedly contacting other OEMs and planning to reduce licensing fees to encourage them to produce Windows Phone gadgets.
