Spotify Palette shows your music taste in colours

Ever wondered what your music taste looks like in colours? Developer Israel Medina created the Spotify Palette site, turning your music taste and listening habits into a colour palette. As you can see in the photo above, that's what Spotify Palette said my colours were. It can even give a peek at the songs you've listened to in the past six months that it used to create the palette.

As 9to5Mac reported, there are different vibes or moods depending on your palette. The orange one represents movement, while the pastel palette (like mine) is for "highly danceable and energetic songs."

Spotify acquires Podz to boost podcast discovery

Spotify has been throwing many of its resources into growing its podcast business. Its latest move is the acquisition of Podz, a startup with tech that can generate preview clips of podcasts. Podcasters don't need to create clips themselves, as Podz can automate the process. It finds the important moments from episodes using machine learning trained on over 100,000 hours of audio.

Spotify wants this acquisition to help improve podcast discovery, allowing you to browse through short podcast snippets to find what you want to listen to instead of listening to longer podcast episodes. According to Spotify, it will make it "easier for listeners to find the content they want to listen to, and for creators to be discovered and build a fan base."

Production has started for an untitled Netflix fictional series inspired by the book Spotify Untold by Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud. It'll be a six-part limited series that focuses on the young Swedish tech entrepreneur Daniel Ek and his key partners who revolutionized the music industry by offering a free, legal music streaming service.

According to Variety, the book told the story of the company's "thorny" journey, "from the challenge of persuading hardline record labels to sign up, to Steve Jobs' personal war on Spotify's U.S. launch, and widely publicized conflicts with the likes of Taylor Swift and Bob Dylan." Investigative technology journalists Carlsson and Leijonhufvud had over 70 interviews telling the tale of Spotify.

Apple TV on Xbox Series X/S get Dolby Vision

Microsoft & Spotify

The Apple TV on the Xbox Series X/S is getting improved visuals with the added support for Dolby Vision. Of course, you'll need a Dolby Vision-compatible display to get this feature to work, and you need to be an Apple TV+ subscriber. There will be a Dolby Vision logo on a show or movie's description page if the title and setup support it. Shows like Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest are available in Dolby Vision. To activate the feature on your Xbox, head to Settings > General > TV display options > Video Modes.

On other entertainment app news on the Xbox, Spotify video podcasts are available on the console. Shows like The Misfits have video podcasts on the platform. You can play the videos in the background or keep it running while you play games. You can also control playback via the Spotify app on your phone or tablet.
