'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' to stream on Disney+ on May 4

Star Wars Day a.k.a. "May the 4th" becomes even more special. Disney+ will be home to the entire Skywalker saga as the streaming service adds Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on the said date. It's the same day the documentary series Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian and the series finale of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be airing.

With shelter in place ordered in a lot of places around the world, it seems like Disney and Lucasfilm want to take advantage of that captive audience. And while Star Wars fans can't celebrate outside of their homes, this might be the next best thing.

'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' gets an early digital release in the US, too

Aside from Frozen 2 hitting Disney+ earlier than expected, another Disney property is showing up online earlier as well. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been spotted in online digital stores in the US, including Vudu, iTunes, and Google Play. It isn't on Amazon yet as of this writing. The film isn't available for rent, though. You will need to purchase it, and you can do so for up to 4K quality. The Rise of Skywalker was expected to hit digital stores on March 17, but it looks like they wanted to capitalize on people spending their weekends in. We aren't sure if it's available here in Canada, too. But the wait shouldn't be long either.

Disney gives a dying fan and his family an early screening of 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker'

Magician Sean Boon shares photo from the special screening

One Star Wars fan got to see the upcoming final film to the Star Wars saga. Disney CEO Robert Iger confirmed on Twitter that a British man with a terminal illness got to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker a few weeks ahead of its premiere. Rowans Hospice, in Hampshire, England, shared an image of a Disney representative who brought the film. The organization takes care of patients with life-limiting illnesses. Not much is known about the patient because he did not wish to be identified. But the whole thing started when Rowans Hospice employee Lisa Davies saw a Star Wars tattoo on the man's leg.

The patient saw the film with his two sons, wife, and two brothers. All of them had to sign a non-disclosure agreement before watching the movie on an iPad.
