Android 10 is tipped to land on Pixels on September 3rd

It looks like the final version of Android is coming real soon—tomorrow, to be exact. Canadian carriers Rogers and Telus leaked on their support forums information that the Pixel phones will be getting the latest version of Android on September 3rd. Both have since taken out this info, but the release of Android 10 is imminent. The final beta for Android 10 was released a month ago. Google said at that time that the public rollout was "just a few weeks away." Plus, Google's Pixel phones usually get first dibs on the latest version of Android. This newest version of Android might be hitting more smartphones in a timely fashion as over two dozen phone manufacturers were rolling out beta versions of the operating system.

Huawei P20 Pro Twilight variant comes to Canada starting Sept. 6th

Twilight is coming. Nope, not the vampire movie. We’re talking about the iridescent, gradient colour of the Huawei P20 series. The Twilight version for the P20 Pro is coming to our shores starting September 6th. It’ll be available through Bell, Rogers, TELUS, and SaskTel. Huawei was able to achieve this interesting shade by applying eight alternating layers of oxides and nitrates on the glass. They made use of five layers of colour coating, one diamond-like carbon layer, and two layers of anti-fingerprint coating. If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on this version, then your wait is almost over.

Android P update rolling out to Essential Phones on Telus and Koodo in Canada

Some joy for Essential Phone PH-1 users in Canada rocking Telus or Koodo SIM cards. The much awaited Android P update has started to roll out and is available via Software Update on the device. Clocking it at around 1.2 GB, the update took me around 10 minutes to install.

Essential Phone now gets access to the new gestrures as well as the overview screen which is now the best way to scroll through open apps. Aside from interface tweaks and battery gains, there is a Digital Well Being feature, still in beta, that will help monitor app and phone use for smartphone addicted users.

Telus and Koodo are holding back the Android P update for the Essential Phone and customers aren't happy

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

One of the advantages of the Essential Phone PH-1, sold exclusively in Canada by Telus and subsidiary Koodo, is that it runs on Pure Android. There's no carrier or phone manufacturer bloatware and this ensures quick adoption of the latest OS updates and features.

Designed and created by Android founder Andy Rubin, the Essential Phone's promise was that it would receive the latest Android updates when these were rolled out by Google.

This promise has been fulfilled by allowing Android P Beta on the device early and by rolling our the finished Android Pie update the same day it was made available globally. Except in Canada.
