TELUS to carry the Alcatel LUME and GO FI

Two new Alcatel products will be carried by TELUS exclusively: the LUME smartphone and GO FI pocket Wi-Fi. According to Alcatel, the LUME is a pocket- and wallet-friendly smartphone with a 4-inch display. It’s powered by a quad-core processor that’ll be able to take you from work to play. If you’re feeling playful, it comes with exclusive Polaroid filters (specifically, 17 different effects and 13 frame styles). The GO FI, on the other hand, helps boost your connectivity while on the move. It promises 4G LTE data with download speeds of up to 150Mbps and the ability to connect up to 15 different Wi-Fi-enabled devices. To manage connected devices, the GO FI works with the Alcatel Onetouch Smart Link, an app that works with both iOS and Android devices, The GO FI promises to work for up to seven hours of continuous use.

As mentioned both products will be available through TELUS, with the GO FI coming on October 7 and the LUME becoming available starting October 12. The LUME will also be available at Koodo Shops.

TELUS caters to Pokémon GO fans with range of free services

Mobile carriers are sone of the biggest winners of the Pokémon GO craze with their customers relying on data to catch the elusive monsters. TELUS is giving back to Pokémon GO trainers with a range of services.

In Toronto, TELUS is offering Pokémon GO trainers access to free in-store charging stations at TELUS House at 25 York Street, Dufferin Mall, Yonge & Eglinton and Queen Street at the Beaches locations.  You don’t need to be a TELUS customer to take part – just bring in your Pokédex and power up.

New study reveals Canadians are rapidly adopting smart home technology

Interesting findings have been revealed recently on how Canadians expect smart home technology to become commonplace in their homes within the next two years. The study conducted by MARU/VCR&C*, and commissioned by TELUS, found a significant gap between those that believe that smart home technology will benefit their lives (61%) and those who currently own a smart home device (34%). 

But that's about to change quickly! Of those 63% of people have reported that they will own at least one smart home device by 2018 - such as a smart TV, thermostat, lighting, appliance, entry and security system etc.. Half of them also reported they will own at least three or more.

Over 100 Artists will display brain sculptures in Toronto this summer

When you're visiting Toronto this summer you'll probably notice brain sculptures in and around the city. Beginning on June 3, 2016, The Brain Project will take over our most loved spaces in the city featuring 100 original works by internationally acclaimed artists, designers and celebrities. The customized brain sculptures will dot our cityscape all to raise awareness for brain health and research at Baycrest Health Sciences. 

Artists participating include Gary Taxali, who unveiled the first completed brain sculpture at the media event today, as well as Mr. Brainwash, Karim Rashid, Alec Monopoly, David Drebin, Dani Cooperman, Andre Monet and many more. Also announced are celebrities participants including Kim Kardashian West and daughter North West and Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy.
