Ubisoft can't update 'The Division 2' because of a botched fix

Screenshot: Ubisoft

Ubisoft's made a bit of a problem for itself with its recent The Division 2 update. The company revealed that a development "error" has broken the shared-world shooter's build generation system. It's bad enough that it hampers the studio's ability to even update the game. They can't introduce a new season or even extend the outgoing one.

The studio said it has made "good progress" in fixing the problem in recent days. And there are hints of a solution in sight. There's an ongoing "unscheduled maintenance" session, which should fix issues including the inability to make seasonal in-game purchases. And hopefully, there's a fix for this current problem.

Ubisoft to help Stadia users transfer their purchases to PC

Source: Ubisoft

As Stadia shuts down, studios like Ubisoft are hoping to help abandoned Stadia users a way to access the games they've bought on the streaming service. Ubisoft announced it would help those who bought its titles on Stadia a way to transfer their purchases to the PC via Ubisoft Connect. The developer hasn't shared when it will offer Stadia players this option. We also don't know if the transferred games will include saved data.

As Engadget pointed out, the Ubisoft+ subscription service includes a cloud save feature, so perhaps it can figure out a way to maintain players' progress if they switch to the PC. Of course, the gesture is appreciated. However, those without capable PCs might not be able to take advantage of the offer.

Ubisoft announces 'The Division Resurgence' mobile game

Ubisoft has officially announced its upcoming free-to-play The Division mobile game. The Division Resurgence will be an open-world, third-person RPG shooter similar to the mainline games. There will be single-player and co-op modes, allowing you to face off against the environment in story missions and other "PvE activities."

The Division Resurgence will take place in the same universe as The Division and The Division 2, but its story is "independent" from the original. It promises a "unique perspective on key story events." The Division Resurgence will introduce new characters and weapons, too. We don't know yet when the app is coming to Android and iOS. But Ubisoft says it's coming "soon." For now, the developer plans to run a closed alpha, where selected players can test the game after signing an NDA.
