Ubisoft unveils free-to-play shooter 'Tom Clancy's XDefiant', closed beta on Aug. 5

Ubisoft's newest addition to its Tom Clancy series is the free-to-play shooter XDefiant. This first-person shooter game will take place within the universe built out by other games in the series. You will take on the role of "Defiants" in this title with customizable factions, abilities, traits, and "ultras." According to the developer, the list of Defiants will grow and change over time. You can select different weapons and attachments. And these fights will take place in a 6x6 arena with a "large pool of uniquely designed maps in rotation."

The game is coming to the PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and NVIDIA GeForce Now. A closed beta test is kicking off on August 5 in Canada and the US for the PC and the PS and Xbox consoles.

Ubisoft unveils new trailer for 'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction'

During the first day of E3 2021's virtual event, Ubisoft showed off its new Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six game. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction takes place within three different locations in North America. You're still battling against alien hosts called Archæans that continue to evolve in the containment zones. You're on a mission to combat these creatures while rescuing one of your own, thus the name of this game.

Its gameplay mechanics are similar to Rainbow Six Siege, and you can gain access to weapon and ability upgrades to confront the Archæans along the way. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction will launch on September 16, 2021, on the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, PC, and Google Stadia.

Ubisoft will release 'Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora' in 2022

We finally have a tentative timeline for the upcoming Avatar game from Ubisoft. The publisher announced that Massive Entertainment's Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be released in 2022 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/s, Luna, PC, and Stadia. As you might have noticed, it won't be available on last-gen consoles. It will take advantage of Ubisoft's newest Snowdrop engine, which should offer the game more visual detail that befits James Cameron's CG world, as Engadget pointed out. It'll come out in the same year the delayed Avatar sequels will come out, so there's much to be excited about in this made-up world.

You will play as Na'vi as you travel across the "never-before-seen" Western Frontier of Pandora, where you will face the planet's wildlife and human RDA forces that want to exploit that world.

'Watch Dogs: Legion' to get a zombie mode

Ubisoft is releasing an update for Watch Dogs: Legion that will have you and up to three teammates working to reach an extraction point while trying to take down zombies. In Watch Dogs: Legion of the Dead, you can take down zombies not just with a headshot but with gadgets and hacked objects like cars and weaponized drones. It's possible to revive teammates when they get knocked down by zombies. You will also need to collect supply packages as you make your way through London. This mode is currently only available for the PC, and it's currently in alpha so expect to run into some bugs and big changes to happen.
