Apple issues fix for iPhone XS charging and WiFi issues

With every new product release, there is always the possibility of bugs and issues creeping in past the final release stage. In the case of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, some units have been hit with charging issues as well as a bug where iPhones would rejoin the slower 2.4 GHz version of a WiFi hotspot rather than the quicker, more modern 5 GHz channel.

The iOS 12.0.1 update released by Apple recently is now making its way to devices via Software Update and fixes these issues and should be installed by owners of these new phones.

Apple Watch can now be used to control GoPro cameras

Apple Watch users can now control their GoPro cameras thanks to an updated app that lets you preview shots, start and stop recording. Apple Watch needs to be running the latest software and GoPro 2.11 for iOS needs to be installed in the companion iPhone which makes it easier to use the Watch to control various camera setups quickly.

QuickerTek brings fast 802.11AC wireless to MacBook Air or Pro

Finally, 802.11ac wireless comes to the Apple MacBook Air and Pro laptops. Replacing the stock wireless card, QuickerTek's new QCard2 provides all of the speed to some of the slightly older MacBook Pros and Airs. It goes in the standard wireless card socket, so users don't sacrifice a USB or other external connection port. Video: Quick look at Fujifilm's X-T1 Camera Remote functionality

We recently got to see the new Fujifilm X-T1 mirrorless camera in action. Although we didn't get too much hands on time with the camera outside the demo area, we did manage to shoot a video showing the cool Remote Camera functionality that allows control and mirroring via an iPhone. More than just good demo, the uses for remote camera functionality for a weather-sealed semi-professional camera are quite expansive. Specially for shooting outdoors and in sub-zero winter conditions. Seems like ILCs are beating DSLRs in terms of features and integration with existing technologies.
