CES 2020: PopSockets introduces a wireless charger that works with PopGrips

One of the downsides of having a PopSockets PopGrip attached to your phone is that you won't be able to charge your device wirelessly unless you take it out. But the company remedies that with its new PopPower Home wireless charger. The US$60 charger debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It sports a hole in the middle of the charging pad so you can place your supported Apple or Android smartphone on it while it charges.

The PopPower Home charger works with phone cases that are up to 5mm thick. And it can even charge devices and accessories that don't have a PopGrip attached to it. So, it can also charge your AirPods with its wireless charging case—even if it has one of those case covers from PopSockets. There is an LED indicator on the side that will let you know if the case is charging.

Nucurrent helped develop this Qi charging pad, which also comes with Extended Power Profile to deliver up to 15 watts of wireless power for fast-charging wireless devices. But PopSockets cautioned that the phone's brand and model, case thickness, and battery depletion could affect charge times. The accessory currently supports both fast wireless charging modes of Apple and Samsung devices, with support for Pixel phones coming, too.

The PopPower Home comes in Night Bloom, Mountainscape, Matte White, Cosmic Cloud, and Carbonate Gray. And you will need to have a standard PopGrips attached to your phone. It won't work with metal grips, PopGrip Mirror, and PopGrip Lips. The accessory is available exclusively on Popsockets.com, with three styles available. The rest of the designs are expected to arrive in late January.
