Wondercise uses arm and leg sensors to monitor your exercise form
The downside of working out at home is you aren't sure if your form is correct. Taiwanese fitness company Wondercise has a solution. Its Live Motion Matching system gets a new "multi-point matching system" that uses IMU sensor straps on your arms and legs to track your form while you exercise as accurately as possible.
These new straps will work with Wondercise's fitness band or other third-party wearables to connect to its on-demand fitness service, including the Apple Watch and Garmin devices. It connects to the app via Bluetooth so you can learn more about your exercise posture.
You will get alerts in real-time on the workout videos if your form is aligned with the trainer's or not. When it's incorrect, it'll allow you to correct your stance. Wondercise CEO Eric Chuang says there are six different sensors in the strap that can monitor heart rate, cardio burn, and your movements.
This system's previous iteration was only limited to one-sided wrist/arm movements. It can now track leg exercises and even more complex arm movements like those involved in boxing.
The training videos Wondercise currently focuses on yoga, HIIT, tai-chi, weight training, and other similar workouts. But it plans to add more over time.
Wondercise's offering isn't an industry-first, but it keeps cost reasonably affordable. VIP access to the service goes for US$5 (around CA$6) a month or US$35 (CA$45) a year and works with more wearables. The new sensors don't have a price yet, but these will come in a two-pack set when they launch later this quarter.
