Apple might be redesigning the iMac, launch new monitor

We've heard about the possible new comeback of MagSafe to the MacBook Pros. But now, we're getting a report from Bloomberg that Apple might be working on a significant redesign for its iMac all-in-one desktop, too. There might be two new models coming later this year to replace the existing 21.5-inch and 27-inch models (codenamed J456 and J457). We could expect it to look like the Pro Display XDR by getting rid of its bezel, oversized chin, and curved back. It'll also supposedly run on Apple's next-generation ARM-based processors.

Apple is also supposedly working on a more affordable monitor to complement the high-end Pro Display XDR. This display won't have comparable image quality to the Pro Display XDR, but it will at least give users looking for an Apple-made monitor the chance to own one again.

The Mac Pro devices might also get an upgrade with two new versions supposedly in the pipeline. One will feature the same design as the existing model and will use Intel's latest CPU. And the other will use the Apple Silicon and come in around half the current model's size. It will supposedly sport a mostly aluminum exterior that might remind you of the Power Mac G4 Cube.

At this point, we have to remind you that this is still a rumour, and Apple might change its plans. But if it does push through, then macOS users will have a lot to look forward to in 2021.
