Fitbit Luxe merges style and health and wellness tracking

Fitbit has a new fitness tracker in town, and the Google-owned company calls it the "most elevated tracker" it offers. Style is at the core of this new fitness band, but it bears many of the essential features Fitbit provides in its products, including a push for a more "holistic" approach to health management.

"Over the past year, we've had to think differently about our health—from keeping an eye out for possible COVID-19 symptoms to managing the ongoing stress and anxiety of today's world," said James Park, VP, GM, and co-founder of Fitbit, in a press release. "Even though we are starting to see positive changes, it has never been more important to manage your holistic health. That's why we've been resolute in introducing products to support you in staying mentally well and physically active. We've made major technological advancements with Luxe, creating a smaller, slimmer, beautifully designed tracker packed with advanced features—some that were previously only available with our smartwatches—making these tools accessible to even more people around the globe."

The Luxe reminds us of Fitbit products like the Inspire 2, but this time, there are even more chic bracelet designs, including a collaboration with Laguna Beach-based jewelry brand, gorjana.

According to Fitbit, this wearable is designed to sit "lightly" on your wrist as a jewelry piece would.

The company aims with the Luxe to release its most fashionable and comfortable devices yet—one designed for a diverse range of wrist sizes and skin tones for 24/7 wear.

The gorjana for Fitbit Luxe Special Edition transforms this tracker into a jewelry piece with the Parker Link Bracelet in platinum and soft gold stainless steel. There's also a swim-proof classic silicone peony band with water resistance of up to 50M.

Besides that, there are many more Fitbit bands, including a comfortable classic silicone, premium Horween leather double wrap, woven, and stainless steel mesh bands.

The Luxe offers a buttonless design, and it is the company's thinnest tracker to date and the first one with a colour touchscreen.

There are new clock faces that'll take advantage of this new look. It offers Fitbit's intuitive swipe and tap functionality, so you can easily access your daily stats, notifications, and the tracker's core health and fitness features.

Fitbit adds its stress management tools to the Luxe. The Stress Management Score accessible through the Fitbit app gives you a daily assessment of your body's ability to handle stress. It factors your activity levels, sleep, and heart rate.

Fitbit Premium members will get a detailed breakdown of their Stress Management Score, including data on exertion, sleep patterns, and responsiveness.

The Stress Management Score is also coming to the Fitbit app for users with Charge 4, Inspire 2, Sense, Versa 2, and Versa 3. None of Fitbit's wearables for kids will get this feature.

Aside from access to your Stress Management Score, the Luxe also has access to Fitbit's Health Metrics dashboard, so you can access your health data and take note of changes you need to implement to improve your wellbeing. The dashboard monitors your breathing rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and skin temperature variation. Oxygen saturation (SpO2) tracking is coming soon for some markets.

There's free access to the weekly view, and it isn't available in all countries. Some of the additional data might require a Premium subscription.

As with other Fitbit devices, the Luxe can track your sleep, food intake, hydration, weight, and menstrual health. Blood glucose logging is coming to the Fitbit app in Canada soon.

The Fitbit Luxe can monitor your daily heart rate in real-time to better measure your calorie burn. You can also choose from 20 different on-wrist exercise modes, including golf, pilates, spinning, tennis, running, biking, or hiking. You can use connected GPS from your phone to see real-time pace and distance.

The Luxe also has smart features like call and text notifications, alarms, a stopwatch, and timers. A single charge can eke out up to five days of battery life.

Luxe works with both Android and iOS devices and supports Google Fast Pair.

Luxe is available for pre-order today at Fitbit.com and major retailers, with worldwide availability this spring.

The Fitbit Luxe retails for $199.95, and it comes with six months of Fitbit Premium included (which is an $80.94 value). After six months, Premium is available for $13.49 per month or $106.99 per year. Luxe's accessories are sold separately, with prices ranging from $39.95 to $129.95. The gorjana for Fitbit Luxe Special Edition is also available for pre-order today for $249.95, with availability in June. The company will sell it exclusively at Fitbit.com.
