Apple's AirTag item tracker is finally here
Apple's long-rumoured Tile-like item tracker is finally official. The company launched the AirTag, which will let you track items and locate them through Apple's Find My app on iOS. You can use this puck-like accessory to make sure you don't lose items like wallets and keys.
It comes built with a speaker, accelerometer, Bluetooth LE, NFC, Apple's U1 chip, and a user-replaceable battery. According to Apple, the AirTag's battery should last for around a year. The U1 chip's Ultra Wideband tech can help you precisely locate your missing item.
According to Apple, the AirTag won't store any location data or history on the device. And it comes equipped with end-to-end encryption for the communication between the accessory and the Find My Network.
The Apple AirTag costs $39. If you want a four-pack, you can get that for $129. Apple offers free engraving, and you can get leather loops or key ring accessories, which the company will sell separately. Apple plans to work with accessory makers to create luggage tag enclosures for the AirTags.
