Eargo's new smart hearing aid comes with 'mask mode'
Eargo has a new smart hearing aid ready for CES. The Eargo 6 are another small, non-descript pair of black buds that take the same completely in canal form factor, meaning they can stay out of sight. It gets new features like a mask mode, which helps resolve sound change issues caused by the face coverings we need to use.
It also has a new Sound Adjust feature, which uses its proprietary algorithm to automatically sense your surroundings and optimize themselves to give the best settings for your situation. Profiles on hearing aids are standard, but automatic switching is something pricier models get, which is the market for Eargo products.
Other new features on the Eargo 6 include improved noise reduction, which it says further reduces background noise to let voices punch through. It is also IPX7 water-resistant, which means it can be submerged for 30 minutes at a depth of one meter without causing water damage. The Eargo 6 is sold directly to consumers for US$2,950 (around CA$3,773 converted).
