GM bets big on Super Cruise, eyes billions in revenue

General Motors is doubling down on its Super Cruise driver-assistance technology, aiming to generate billions in revenue and establish itself as a tech leader. This move comes as GM exits its loss-making Cruise robotaxi business.

GM projects Super Cruise will bring in approximately US$2 billion (around CA$2.9 billion) in annual revenue within the next five years. The company sees this high-margin revenue stream as key to its transformation, similar to Tesla's focus on technology.

CIAS 2025: Mercedes-Benz returns with Canadian premiere of the G 580 with EQ Technology

Mercedes-Benz Canada is making a grand return to the 2025 Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto, marking its first appearance at the show in five years. The return with the brands presence will be evident throughout the show in various displays and immersive guest experiences. One highlight of Mercedes-Benz’s presence at the 2025 AutoShow is the Canadian premiere of the G 580 with EQ Technology, the first fully-electric variant of the iconic Geländewagen (G-Wagen).

CIAS 2025: Volvo to present newly redesigned XC90 

Volvo is returning to the Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS) in Toronto for 2025 to showcase the latest version of its flagship SUV, the new Volvo XC90. 

The new XC90 features exterior design updates, and a suite of enhancements that blend timeless Scandinavian design with cutting-edge innovation. Exterior highlights include a redesigned hood and front bumper, a new iteration of the iconic Thor's Hammer headlights, and a fresh grille design, specifically designed to fit the iconic Volvo iron mark logo. Carrying on the brand’s long, storied history, this vehicle continues to make safety a priority with an advanced safety cage and Volvo’s latest driver assistance technologies, including collision avoidance systems, blind spot monitoring and intelligent driver alerts.

R32 Reborn: Nissan electrifies iconic GT-R

Nissan showcased a one-off electrified R32 Skyline GT-R at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon from January 10−12. The R32 EV project, led by electric vehicle engineer Ryozo Hiraku, aimed to preserve the R32's driving experience while electrifying it. The EV ran on two 160kW motors and a 62kWh battery borrowed from the Leaf Nismo RC02 to target a similar performance to the original.  

The R32 EV retained the look of the original with a Gun Grey metallic finish, Recaro seats, digital refresh for the original gauge clusters, simulated engine sounds and gear shifts, and paddle shifters to mimic the original driving experience.
