When Mystery Science Theater 3000 crowdfunded its revival, there was an inkling that it would be big. And yes, it was big indeed. The show that makes fun of bad movies has become the biggest crowdfunded video project to date after raising nearly US$5.8 million through Kickstarter. They beat out Veronica Mars movie’s $5.7 million. According to Engadget, it has also raised $600,000 outside of Kickstarter. The result? Canadian artists and apps get named as part of Apple’s Best of 2015

What do big Canadian artists like Drake, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd and the apps Lara Croft Go! and Dark Echo have in common? They’re among the best of the best Apple has chosen for the year. While we couldn’t beat Adele’s comeback album “25” in the top spot, the second and third spot in the Top Albums go to Drake’s “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” and Justin Bieber’s “Purpose,” respectively. Meanwhile, The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind the Madness” clinches the seventh spot.

When it comes to apps, Canadian-made turn-based puzzle game Lara Croft Go is named the iPhone Game of the Year. Its close runner-up interactive fantasy novel Weirdwood Manor hails from Toronto. And even the Most Innovative Game for the iPhone Dark Echo comes out of Vancouver. If you want to get your hands on the best of the best, you can check the full list per category in the following links: Music, Apps, Movies, Podcasts, TV, and Books.

YouTube Kids App Launches In Canada

The kids too are on there mostly for entertainment as they've heard of videos going viral from their friends.

I don't mind as they are a bit older but I still worry about what might pop up after they've viewed their originally searched content. What may seem harmless fun could potentially roll into the next video which has no filter.

New ‘Sherlock’ trailer sets the mood for the upcoming special

While we know that the new Christmas special of BBC’s Sherlock is set in the 19th century. We don’t know too many details about this Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat creation. Aside from seeing them in their Victorian garb (and John Watson’s moustache comeback), we sense the somewhat darker mood of the show. There is a mystery to be solved as we can see but aside from that, there isn’t much we can say. But, of course, it isn’t Sherlock without a few jokes and potshots at the leads’ expense, like Holmes’ famous hat.
