Coach has unveiled a collection of stylish new Apple Watch bands that add a lot of flair to the popular wearable. Available for pre-order with an August 19 ship date, these bands will be made in limited quantities so it is wise to pull the trigger on any design that grabs your eye.

Apple is reportedly working on a ‘non-iPhone Apple Watch’

A new Apple Watch might be popping up on our horizon and it’ll have one big advantage over its predecessors: it won’t need an iPhone to work. Bloomberg reports that Apple is reportedly working on a version of its smartwatch that will connect to LTE mobile networks. They have supposedly started talking to providers in the US and Europe to launch this device later this year. And Intel will supposedly be supplying the LTE modems for the new Apple Watch.

If there is some truth to the report, this will help boost Apple’s recent focus on the fitness benefits/credentials of the Apple Watch. Being able to untether the Apple Watch from the iPhone can bring with it the capabilities to let users bring songs with them to listen to when they’re running or are at the gym. Direct connection might even let them reply to messages and calls right from the wearable device. One of the biggest concerns will be battery life, though. With the iPhone augmenting some of the computational strain on the Apple Watch, making the wearable a standalone device would need a better battery.

What our tech lovin' mommy friends want for Mother's Day

Ask any mom (myself included) what we want for Mother's Day. We will tell you that we'd like to stay out of the kitchen (especially the cleaning up part) and we'd really just like some time to do something we enjoy doing like reading, sleeping in, do something creative, watching movies, time to take care of ourselves without interruption by someone asking what's for lunch? Where are my soccer socks? or is the laundry done yet? We love you all but seriously, just a few hours of peace is bliss. 

So, when we asked some of our tech lovin' mommy friends what would be on their gift lists, it came to no surprise that their ideas tie right into our collective desire for "me time" and of course, the kids can shower us with all the hugs and kisses too!

Apple Watch helps student call 911 after rollover accident

The Apple Watch has the ability to call 911 when you press its button for six seconds and this feature helped save  Casey Bennett, a student after his car rolled over and his iPhone was out of reach. 

“I was trying to figure out if I could get out, and I was like nope, you’re just going to have to hang out here,” Bennett said.

It was then that he pushed one button on his Apple Watch.

“I just pressed down this side button on here for six seconds and it called 911,” Bennett said.

Not only did the Apple Watch call 911, which allowed Bennett to get assistance quickly and it also enabled the SOS feature which notified his parents. Emergency SOS sends your current location including updates over time when activated.
