CES 2017: Twelve South has an armband for the Apple Watch

This new accessory from Twelve South has us thinking about why this hasn’t existed before. The ActionSleeve is the world’s first armband for the Apple Watch. We know this accessory will be godsend for those who work out and don’t want to have something on their wrist while they do. This armband straps onto your upper arm or bicep and protects the Watch with rubber. The only exposed part of the wearable is the display and the Digital Crown so you can still tinker with it.

The heart rate monitor also works here and Twelve South thinks it tells even more accurate readings as the Watch is tightly secured to your arm. It’s available for both the 38mm and 42mm and comes in black or red. The ActionSleeve retails for US$29.99 and is available for order on Twelve South’s site.

Pokémon Go now works with Apple Watch

Apple Watch users who are also avid Pokémon Go players can now look forward to adding their wearable to their monster hunting arsenal. Announced back at Apple's 'Hello Again' event in September, developer Niantic says that the Apple Watch version of Pokémon Go is finally available.

This isn't a full game on the Apple Watch, rather a way to collect items from pokéstops and see nearby monsters with a simple tap without whipping out their phone. This caps off Niantic's blockbuster year with Pokémon Go, which remains 2016's biggest app success story.

Apple Watch sales are supposedly doing fine according to Tim Cook

While Apple has been very evasive about talking about the sales figures of the Apple Watch, Tim Cook felt like he needed to address a recent IDC report claiming Apple ranks fourth in the wearables business behind Fitbit, Xiaomi, and Garmin and it sold 1.1 million units during the third quarter of 2016, which represents a 71 percent decline in shipments when compared to last year.

But Apple CEO says the Apple Watch is setting sales records for them during the first week of holiday shopping. “Sales growth is off the charts. In fact, during the first week of holiday shopping, our sell-through of Apple Watch was greater than any week in the product’s history. And as we expected, we’re on track for the best quarter ever for the Apple Watch,” he said. Cook wouldn’t give the exact sales figures still.
