BlackBerry unveils daily free app holiday campaign

BlackBerry has unveiled a giveaway promo for BlackBerry 10 users. The “25 Days of Gifts” gives users a 24-hour access to one premium app from December 1 to 25. You just need to visit BlackBerry World and tap on the 25 Days of Gifts banner to check out what free app is being offered for the day.

RIM relaunches BlackBerry World store for apps and content

The newly-named BlackBerry World storefront lets customers discover new apps to personalize their BlackBerry smartphone and PlayBook tablet, so they can kick back with some of the hottest entertainment and social networking apps around. When they’re in work mode, they can find great new ways to get access to the information they want and need, and boost their productivity. It all starts on the home screen, where the carousel shows off what’s new and exciting.

BlackBerry World 2012: A Glimpse into RIM's Future

Much ado about Alpha: RIM CEO Thorsten Heins demos the Dev Alpha developer device that may or may not make it to marketText and photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Orlando, FL: Research in Motion's President and CEO Thorsren Heins had his coming out party today and tried to give visitors and developers here in BlackBerry World a feel for where the company was headed. BlackBerry 10, the unified tablet and smartphone OS that was officially launched here was previewed briefly on the new developer Alpha devices which are slate-smartphones that resemble Apple's iPhone 4 but which take all of their materials, design and features from the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Fun Canadian Facts about BlackBerry

We're a few hours away from the opening keynote here at BlackBerry World 2012  in Orlando and we will soon know what will be revealed. In the meantime, RIM has shared some fun Canadian Facts about BlackBerry.

 

  • BlackBerry is the #1 smartphone in Canada (as per comScore, MobiLens in December 2011)
  • In Canada, 9 out of 10 BlackBerry subscribers are active users of BBM (BlackBerry Messenger)
  • BlackBerry PlayBook became the no. 1 selling tablet in Future Shop & Best Buy after the launch of OS 2.0 and after it was discounted accross the board.
  • BlackBerry is the leading OS among 13 to 17 year olds in Canada with 40.7% of the smartphone market.
  • BlackBerry is also the leading OS among 18 to 24 year-olds in Canada with almost 34% of the smartphone market.
