Canadian startup Couply wins Collision 2021's PITCH competition

The winner of Collision Conference's pitching competition is a homegrown startup and one that seems to reflect our times. Couply is the PITCH winner for 2021, beating out US enterprise software company SalesBeat and Colombian e-commerce startup Dondo. 

Couply is a free app designed to help couples improve their relationships with the help of tech. The app helps out with gift and date ideas, thoughtful moments, reminders of important occasions, and even proposals. The app builds personality profiles using quizzes and holds quarterly structured relationship check-ins.

Epilogue launches Social Media Will to help you plan what to do with your online accounts when you pass

Do you know what happens to your social media accounts after you pass away? If you don't, then you aren't alone. A survey conducted by online estate planning solution Epilogue found that over 83% of its Canadian respondents didn't know what happens to their accounts after their death. Plus, only 8.2% said they used the legacy planning tools offered by companies like Facebook and Google.

Facebook's Fidji Simo expounds on the company's upcoming audio offerings at Collision Conference 2021

As you might have heard, Facebook is working on several audio-only products rolling out in the future. So, it makes sense that Fidji Simo, the head of the Facebook app, will talk about these offerings at this year's Collision Conference. 

According to Simo, Facebook's goal with its new products and its approach with developing products is that they "aim to understand what people are trying to do and make it easy for them."

Lenzbox hopes to ease the pain of cleaning contact lenses

Cleaning contact lenses is a pretty cumbersome experience. But German company Lenzbox hopes to turn this "pain" into a "joy" with the press of a button. Lenzbox announced its product at Collision Conference, promising an "easy and safe all-in-one care system for contact lenses." The device is designed to protect your contact lenses against viruses and germs to maintain your eye health.

Lenzbox uses a patent-protected closed fluidic system, which the company claims comply with the highest hygienic standards. It's made to reduce the risk of eye infection significantly. It comes with a cartridge bag with a premium cleaning liquid, which you can replace when you use up. The Lenzbox is expected to ship later this year. If you want to try it out, Lenzbox has opened its waiting list for the limited early-bird version.
