Rockstar Games is finally ready to bring Grand Theft Auto V to the PlayStation 5. The game will be coming to the console in March 2022. In a new trailer promoting the game, we see it come with improved graphics, gameplay enhancements, and seamless character switching between the three protagonists.

The enhanced and expanded port was initially expected to arrive in the second half of this year. When it launches, it will come with the game's GTA Online multiplayer component for free.

Epic Games Store crashes because people want to get 'GTA V' for free

Epic Games seems to have accidentally pre-empted the news that it'll be offering GTA V for free with this now-deleted Twitter ad

News broke last night that the Epic Games Store will be offering the popular Rockstar game Grand Theft Auto V for free. And it seems that's causing issues with the digital storefront. An hour or so ago, Epic Games tweeted: "We are currently experiencing high traffic on the Epic Games Store. We are aware that users may be encountering slow loading times, 500 errors, or launcher crashing at this time and we are actively working to scale. We'll provide an update as soon as we can." The company hasn't acknowledged a now-deleted Twitter ad that teased the upcoming release. But players who were waiting for 11 am ET for the game's release seemed to have crashed the site because of it.

As The Verge reports, it looks like it's causing trouble for other Epic services, too. An official Fortnite Twitter account tweeted they are "investigating issues" on the PC and Mac. Hopefully, Epic Games resolves the issue soon so players can get their hands on the game. But you have to make sure you enable two-factor authentication within the app store. That's now a requirement Epic Games is enforcing. GTA V will supposedly be available for free until May 21.

Sony's game streaming service PlayStation Now gets a price cut across the different subscription options. It's now $12.99 per month instead of $19.99; $34.99 per quarter instead of $44.99; and $79.99 per year instead of $99.99. The company wants to offer "a more compelling price that is comparable to other entertainment streaming services on the market." Sony boasts that with over 800 games, it provides the most extensive library of any console game subscription service.

These include God of War, Grand Theft Auto V, inFAMOUS Second Son, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Sony had an additional note for GTAV. It said, "Grand Theft Auto V is available to download and stream via PS Now at launch; Grand Theft Auto Online and Rockstar Games Social Club will be available for users that download GTAV at launch. Online features, including Grand Theft Auto Online and Rockstar Games Social Club, are currently only available in the downloaded version."

Popular ‘GTA 5’ modding tool gets shut down, fans react negatively to the news

If you’ve used OpenIV mod for Grand Theft Auto V, we’re sure you’re already aware of the news that publisher Take-Two Interactive served a cease and desist order for the fan-made modding tool. And the developers took it down saying they don’t have the time to try and fight the order. This extremely popular modding tool was used not just create and modify content like vehicles, weapons, gameplay features, and effects, but it also served as an improved video editor. Take-Two reasoned that while they aren’t against modding as a whole, they say OpenIV threatens the security of the GTA Online mode. In a statement they say, “Take-Two’s actions were not specifically targeting single player mods. Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody. We are working to figure out how we can continue to support the creative community without negatively impacting our players.”

The GTA 5 community reacted rather negatively to the news saying there isn’t any evidence that the tool interferes with GTA Online. They’ve flooded the Steam page for the game with negative reviews and started a petition over at Change.org that already has over 20,000 signatures. The petition titled “Save OpenIV,” says “The closing of OpenIV leaves 10,000s of people without access to be able to mod their games, and leaves 10,000s of people without the ability to continue their hobbies.”
