Telus and Koodo rolling out Marshmallow update to HTC One M8 and M9 smartphones

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been slow to come to older devices but it is slowly happening. Telus and Koodo customers with HTC One M8 and HTC One M9 smartphones are slated to get the OTA (Over-the-Air) update anytime now. This update was actually slated back in December but pulled due to some buggy software which has since been fixed. The update notification began popping up in Telus and Koodo devices recently.

HTC can't meet self-imposed deadline for Lollipop update

HTC was the first OEM to set a deadline for their Android update to Lollipop for the One M7 and M8. But it looks like they won't be able to meet their 90-day deadline. And they are placing the blame on Google.

According to HTC's Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi, Google had to address issues with the software release and they are trying to implement Google's fixes into the update but it won't be available for some of the carrier versions of the two devices. Versi added they will try to keep as close to the deadline as they can but he won't say when that may be.

Bye-bye Google Play Edition phones? HTC One M8 GPe out of Play Store

It would seem Google has effectively killed its Google Play Edition (GPe) line with the latest device they've taken out. According to PCWorld, the HTC One M8 GPe has been taken out of the Play Store. GPe devices were designed to run stock Android but Google slowly took these out of its digital store. Now, if you want to get a vanilla experience of Android your option is Nexus 5 and Nexus 6, which are both Google-branded phones.

Android Lollipop update for HTC One Google Play Editions gets delayed

A bit of bad news for those waiting for the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update for the Google Play Editions of the HTC One M7 and M8 versions. The update is being pushed back a bit again. Mo Versi, vice president of product management at HTC, said there is another software version request, meaning more work still needs to be done until the update is released. Versi did promise its users though that they will let us know when the update is finally ready and that it gets its nod from Google.
