Huawei starts rolling out Android Pie update to Mate 10 Pro

While Huawei seems to be prepping the new EMUI 9.0 for the release of the Mate 20 Pro in two weeks, some owners of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro have been getting the update for the user interface, which is based on Android Pie. It’s coming to the BLA-L09 and BLA-L29 versions, which are sold mostly in Europe but we’re keeping our eye out for it here. According to GSMArena, the UI brings with it new gesture setup for multi-task switching between apps, improved version of GPU Turbo, and Android Dashboard. There will also be Advanced Battery with AI Support, Adaptive Brightness, Notch Support, a new look for the volume slider, and security updates. It comes in two versions for the two models (BLA-L09C432E4R1P8B108 and BLA-L29C432E4R1P8B108) and need 2.2GB of space. 

The Huawei P20’s AI features will come to the Mate 10 through Android 8.1 update

For owners of the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, Huawei is giving you access to the additional artificial intelligence-detected scenes introduced in the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. The caveat is you’ll have to wait for the Android 8.1 Oreo update to hit your device. These AI-detected scenes help take the guesswork out of what settings are needed for a specific scene. Huawei introduced six on top of the 13 already available in the Mate 10s, including fireworks, document scan, waterfall, group photo, natural colors, and macro.

But if this isn’t a feature you want, the Mate 10s will also soon get the P20s’ ability to disable scene recognition. This option isn’t available to the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro at the moment. Huawei’s Richard Yu did give a specific timeline though when the update will come to these devices.

There will be a Porsche Design version of the Huawei Mate 10

Aside from Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, it looks like we’re getting a pricier model, too. A new teaser from the Chinese company’s Facebook page shows the Huawei logo beside the Porsche Design logo. It comes with the text: “The most advanced technology meets the most expressive design on 16.10.2017. #Huaweimate10 #PorscheDesign.” We, of course, can expect a premium build and an infinitely higher price tag with this model. And if we base it off the Mate 9 Porsche Design, this model should be based off the Mate 10 Pro. We just have a few days before we discover what these new devices are made off.

New leaked image for the Huawei Mate 10 Pro surfaces

The leaks for the upcoming Huawei flagship phones just keep coming. This time we get a pretty good look at what the Mate 10 Pro is going to look like, courtesy of reliable leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks). As we know, there are supposedly three different versions of the Mate 10: the standard Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Mate 10 Lite. We know “true” artificial intelligence is going to be at the heart of the new devices as Huawei just released last week a short promo highlighting the AI capabilities that come with their new processor built into the Mate 10.

We get more details from Blass about the Mate 10 Pro and a high-resolution render of the device to come with it. It shows an edge-to-edge display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a dual-camera 12- and 20-megapixel camera setup at the rear and an 8-megapixel front camera. There seems to be three different colors of the device: dark blue, black, and brown. A lighter band runs around the camera sensors and according to Blass, this look seems to be polarizing his followers. Whether these images are true or not, we don’t have to wait too long to see these new devices as Huawei is set to unveil them on October 16^th.
