Huawei Mate 20 Pro spotted on a subway train

There seems to be an ongoing trend of soon-to-be-announced phones showing up on subways (the last one being the Google Pixel 3 XL). This time we see a man holding what looks to be the Huawei Mate 20 Pro while he takes a subway ride. While the front of the device doesn’t really stand out, the rear shows a Twilight-like color with the triple camera system in a square setup. The fingerprint-smudged rear also has what you see a barcode sticker, which usually signifies it’s a prototype or test unit.

New leak shows off Huawei Mate 20 Pro in full

Huawei is set to unveil its new Mate phones on October 16th and as we near said date, we’re getting more leaks. This time around SlashLeaks shares renders of what looks like the Mate 20 Pro enclosed in a blue silicone case. The back shows the rumoured triple-lens camera setup and the front “confirms” the rumour that the Mate 20 Pro won’t be sporting the teardrop-style notch to make room for the enhanced face-scanning tech. The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are said to include an in-screen fingerprint scanner, which this render somehow confirms with the lack of a cut-out for the rear fingerprint scanner. Some of the other rumoured specs include wireless charging support, and a new NM card, which is Huawei’s take on a standard memory card format.

New teaser shows the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s rectangular camera setup

Earlier this month at IFA, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro was reportedly seen on the floor sporting a rectangular camera setup. And now it seems Huawei itself is confirming this configuration. A new teaser for the upcoming launch suggests this is the case.

The leaked images suggest Huawei is retaining its triple-camera setup with an LED flash fitted into that square camera module. In front, the Mate 20 Pro is rumoured to sporting a wide notch to house Huawei’s face scanning technology, while the Mate 20 will have a smaller notch for its single front-facing camera. We’ll confirm all these and more when Huawei launches the phones on October 16th in London.

Huawei takes on Qualcomm with new Kirin 980 processor

While it is meant to best its previous generation processor, Huawei’s newest system-on-a-chip, the Kirin 980 is actually setting its sights on its competition, specifically the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Qualcomm’s chip is after all powering all the latest flagships, outside of Huawei’s own devices. And it wants to remind the market that they have stepped up their game. It’s the first 7nm processor to pack in 6.9 billion transistors into a chip not bigger than a thumbnail. Compared to the 10nm process, it’s said to perform 20 percent better and be 40 percent more efficient.
