Samsung, Huawei tease upcoming all-screen phones with tiny cutouts

Trying to solve the notch issue has some manufacturers flexing their creative muscles a bit. One of the implementations we’re going to be seeing in the coming weeks come from Samsung and Huawei. Both companies have teased images of its upcoming Galaxy A8s and nova 4, respectively. Both sporting tiny cutouts for the front-facing camera, eliminating the need for a notch but still getting an almost full-screen experience sans extra movable parts. We’re going to hear more about these phones when Samsung launches the Galaxy A8s on December 10 (at least according to a post from their Weibo account) and on December 17 when Huawei launches the nova 4.

Android Pie starts rolling out to Huawei P20 series in China, international market could soon follow

Power Trio: The Huawei P20 Pro Review

Huawei has begun rolling out Android 9.0 Pie via the EMUI 9 skin in China. It’s being reported that it’s hitting both the P20 and P20 Pro units. It’s the final build and it brings with it Huawei’s take on Google’s Digital Wellbeing app—Digital Balance—as well as better volume controls, GPU Turbo for smoother gameply, and gesture navigation. There is no word yet when it’ll be hitting the international market but with this being the final build, it shouldn’t be that long of a wait.

Huawei sells in China a protective case that lets you bring the Mate 20 Pro underwater

While the Huawei Mate 20 Pro has IP68 protection for water- and dust-resistance, this isn’t enough to take the phone under water so you can take photos and videos. That’s why the company is selling in China’s Vmall.com a special Diving Case, which will let you use its advertised underwater camera mode. The case is designed to withstand pressure of up to five metres for one hour. It can be brought to the sea as it can be used in salt water. Underwater use is easy with the protruding buttons on the side and its camera mode makes use of an intelligent image processing so it can capture stills and videos sans distortion. The case is being sold for CNY 599 (around CA$110). Unfortunately, there’s no word yet whether it’ll be brought out of China but we’re hoping it would be.
