Expect at least four (or five) seasons of ‘Stranger Things’

Netflix

With the recent cancellations of Marvel-Netflix shows, one can’t help but think what else is next. For now, we’re getting assurance from those behind Stranger Things that we’re getting at least one or two more seasons. The latest one to confirm this news is actor Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin on the show. He gave an interview to De Telegraaf at the Heroes Dutch Comic Con in the Netherlands and talks about how he’s heard that the “magic number is either four or five.” He goes on to add, “We just finished up three—three is not the last one planned.” Matarazzo talks about how he knows the creators Matt and Ross Duffer don’t want to milk the show for as many seasons as it can. What he says lines up with what the Duffers has said before about the show going on for another season or two. What they’ve been grappling with is whether they’re going with four or five, with the former feeling to short and the latter seemingly longer than they wanted.

Matarazzo describes the upcoming one as “scarier, it’s darker, it’s funnier” with familiar evil from the Upside Down coming back. He adds, “But there’s also a completely new form of antagonization towards our heroes.” What that is we’ll have to wait to find out when the show lands this coming summer.

New ‘Stranger Things’ trailer teases possible key location

A new Stranger Things season 3 trailer shows us what could be a key plot location for the new season. The 1:26 minute clip introduces us to Hawkins, Indiana’s newly opened Starcourt Mall. With it being described as opening in 1985, this seems to set the new season a year after season two. We can’t exactly glean how important this location will be but Steve (played by Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawke) are seen working at Starcourt Mall’s Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream shop. Netflix hasn’t revealed a release date yet for the new season but the trailer does hint at “summer next year.”

We’re getting a ‘Stranger Things’ video game in the future

Netflix

Telltale Games, who has worked on game adaptations of shows like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, confirmed at E3 that they are working on a Stranger Things game. The game developer first commented its delight on the positive response to the idea of Minecraft: Story Mode coming to Netflix as an interactive adventure. And then they added that there will be a Stranger Things game coming to consoles and the PC at a later date. We might expect the game to have the same narrative-focused gameplay with the player moving the story forward themselves. We’re going to have to wait to get more details. Hopefully, we hear more about it soon.
