Taylor Swift’s ‘reputation’ to land on streaming services tonight

Already available in countries like Australia and the Philippines, the new Taylor Swift album reputation is dropping on major streaming services as the superstar shared on Instagram. According to The Verge, it is coming to Spotify at midnight, which keeps it in line with the releases in the aforementioned countries. Swift originally withheld the release of her album on streaming services and it was being reported that she was going to do it for one week. But the popstar extended that to three weeks after it dropped on November 10th. So, for you Swifties who opted out of digitally downloading the album, your wait is almost over.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ reportedly won’t be available on streaming services on its first week

To say Taylor Swift’s relationship with streaming services is tenuous is an understatement. And it looks like that’s just going to continue. A new report from Bloomberg claims Reputation, the pop superstar’s fifth album, won’t be on any streaming services at least a week after it goes on sale. The die-hard fans who want to get their hands on the record will either need to buy it online or if you live in the US, through Target. Taylor Swift has openly criticized the music streaming service industry for devaluing music.

The move might also be prompted by the importance to Swift of getting to the top spot of the charts with physical and digital record sales, which is also seen as a more lucrative endeavor. It hasn’t really been outright confirmed by Swift’s camp and she could change her mind. But we won’t be surprised of the likelihood of this happening.

Taylor Swift breaks Spotify and YouTube records for ‘Look What You Made Me Do’

You might love it or you might hate it but Taylor Swift’s new single “Look What You Made Me Do” has already started breaking records. There’s the global first-day streaming record on Spotify. It logged over eight million same-day streams on the service after it was released late Thursday. Another is on YouTube. The song’s lyric video got over 19 million same-day views on Saturday.

Swift is set to unveil the song’s music video at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards and we won’t be surprised if that clip smashes another record. “Look What You Made Me Do” was written and produced by Swift together with frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff (from bands Bleachers and fun.). The song is the first single off of Swift’s upcoming album Reputation, which is set to come out on November 10.

Taylor Swift brings back her catalog to music streaming services

Eva Rinaldi/Flickr

After pulling out her back catalog from music streaming services, Taylor Swift is getting back together with the likes of Spotify, Google Play, and Amazon Music. Her management made the announcement on Twitter saying this was to celebrate the sale of over 10 million copies worldwide of her latest album, 1989. Swift pulled out of streaming services like Spotify because she said they didn’t compensate artists fairly. She had particular trouble with Spotify’s free tier. But now it seems all of that is behind her and her catalog should start showing up at your music streaming service of choice.
