Threads to get search and web features in the next few weeks, says Zuckerberg

Meta’s Twitter clone, Threads, still shows a spinning galaxy as a placeholder when you check out its web version (Threads.net), but that won’t last long, according to a post on the platform from CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

He says that search and web features are coming soon and praises the team for their fast delivery. Meta launched Threads as a quick response to Twitter’s troubles, and it seems to have paid off. Threads reached 100 million signups faster than any other consumer software product ever. However, more than half of those users didn’t come back, and Meta is trying to add more features to keep them engaged.

Linktree adds Threads integration

Image: Linktree

Linktree has added Threads integration. This feature allows Linktree users to easily add a link to their Threads profile on their Linktree page and display some of their Threads posts. For free Linktree users, this feature requires manually selecting which posts to embed on their page. However, Linktree Pro users will soon have the option to automatically embed their latest Threads posts on their page, keeping their content fresh and updated.

Linktree said that this feature is especially relevant in light of Twitter’s recent rebranding to X. They claimed that having a hub where you can share which platforms you're on will make it easier for you to maintain audiences across social networks, regardless of any changes or disruptions.

Meta’s Threads app gets new features but loses users

Meta has updated its Threads app with some new features and improvements based on user feedback. The app, which launched in early July, is a social network that competes with Twitter, aka X.

One of the main updates is a Following feed that shows posts from the accounts you follow in chronological order. This was a highly requested feature, as Threads only had a For You Feed that mixed posts from followed and random accounts. Other updates include a translation feature, a follow button, new ways to filter notifications, and a faster way to approve new followers.
