TikTok's TV app rolls out on more devices in Canada, the US

TikTok

TikTok rolled out its TV app on the Fire TV earlier this month in Canada and the US. It has done the same to LG TVs in some European countries. But now, it's rolling out to more devices like Google and Android TV, LG, and Samsung smart TVs, too.

While TikTok is designed for a smartphone's vertical use, the TV app takes advantage of the bigger display and horizontal orientation. You can access the For You and Following feeds if you sign in to your account. You can also view the Discover page here.

Alexa lets you transfer music from one Echo device to another with your voice

Amazon has pushed a new update to its Alexa-enabled devices that brings many new features to its devices. One of the new features is being able to move music from one Echo device to another. You can say things like "Alexa, move my music to the kitchen," or "Alexa, move my music here" when you put on Echo Buds. Or say, "Alexa, pause" on the device playing in your bedroom, but then say "Alexa, resume music" when you're in your living room.

You can also use Alexa to play a show or film on Netflix through Fire TV devices. Just say, "Alexa, play something on Netflix," and then the streaming service will launch a show or film for you. The TikTok TV app is also available exclusively on all Fire TV devices now. Both these features are currently rolled out to Canadian and US users. You can check out the other new features here.

TikTok brings its app to recent LG smart TVs

TikTok wants to reach a broader market and tap into higher advertising rates, at least that's what was reported before. So, it isn't surprising that the company is bringing its app to more TVs. This time, LG's 2020 and 2021 smart TVs running on webOS 5.0 and webOS 6.0 are getting the app now, while its 2019 models are expected to get it in the "coming months."

The app is launching in the UK, France, and Germany, where TikTok's already brought its app to Samsung TVs, Android TV, and Fire TV. We don't know how well received the app will be, given it's a portrait-oriented mobile app, for starters. But it's coming, whether you like it or not. Are you waiting for it to make its way here?

After announcing their partnership in October, TikTok and Shopify are ready to test its TikTok Shopping feature with select Shopify merchants. The pilot has kicked off in the US and UK, with Canadian merchants getting access to the feature in the coming weeks.

Shopify merchants with a TikTok For Business account will soon get the option to add a Shopping tab on their profiles and sync their product catalogs to have a mini-storefront on the platform. They will also get the option to tag products in TikTok videos, which will link out to their storefront for checkout.
