Review: Roku Streaming Stick

 Tons of features, good performance and an unbeatable price make the Roku Streaming Stick by far the best value in the increasingly busy Smart-TV add-on category.

If you already own a Smart TV—a WiFi-connected, app-enabled HDTV—you really don’t need to read this. That’s because the Roku family of devices (to which the Roku Streaming Stick is the latest addition) is for all of us poor shmoes stuck with TVs that have no way of talking to the internet and thus no way to access content providers like Netflix, Crackle, CrunchyRoll or YouTube unless we stretch a very long and trip-hazard-creating HDMI cable from our PC/laptop to our TV sets. Don’t laugh. People do that. For real.

Yahoo to create original shows, livestream Live Nation concerts with new media direction

Yahoo's getting into the video content creation and broadcasting game. At the 2014 Digital Content NewFronts, Yahoo! Inc. unveiled the first of its new original long-form shows, a new partnership with Live Nation for live streaming concerts, the all new Yahoo Travel digital magazine, and new advertising opportunities and measurement capabilities.

“Yahoo is focused on connecting artists, storytellers, great content producers and brands with the audiences they want -- at scale, across devices, every single day.”

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, CMO Kathy Savitt, and Ned Brody, head of Americas, presented Yahoo’s vision to make digital video more inspiring and entertaining for consumers and advertisers. They were joined onstage by a star-studded lineup including Executive Producer Mike Tollin; Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves; Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino; New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan; the stars of Comedy Central’s “Broad City,” Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer; and Kraft Foods Executive Vice President Jane Hilk.

VIdeo: HTC One M8 Dual Camera and editing feature demo

The second camera acts not just as an extra photo taking feature but as a sensor that measures depth and distance and as a result allows for various types of photo editing and post-processing features.

Google adds ‘Take A Picture’ and ‘Take a Video’ voice commands to Search

Google is looking to make it easier for you to take photos and videos. The tech company has added “Take a picture” and “Take a video” (or “Record a video”) voice command into Search. You just need to launch Google Now and have it open the camera app to the needed mode.
