Withings launches ScanWatch Nova Brilliant Edition

Withings has announced a new version of its ScanWatch Nova. It brings with it a new colour option and a smaller watch size. The Withings ScanWatch Nova Brilliant Edition comes in 39mm and 42mm sizes. And it comes in titanium silver and two-tone silver and gold variants.

This hybrid smartwatch looks like your typical timepiece with its mechanical hands. But there's a small circular OLED screen on the top half that can show your health information. The Withings ScanWatch Nova Brilliant Edition is water resistant up to 50 metres (5 ATM) and its five-link stainless steel bracelet improves its durability. Withings claims up to 30 days of battery life with this watch. However, that may vary depending on use.

Withings ScanWatch Light: A simpler, more affordable hybrid watch

If you are looking for a simpler and more affordable option than the Withings ScanWatch 2, you might want to consider the ScanWatch Light. This hybrid watch can monitor your activity, sleep, and heart rate, but it does not have the advanced features of the ScanWatch 2. For example, it lacks the sensors for ECG, SpO2, and temperature. It also has lower-quality hardware, with Gorilla Glass instead of Sapphire Glass, and a less precise accelerometer.

The ScanWatch Light is currently available for pre-order in some regions and is expected to ship in October. You can get the 38mm size for US$249.95 (around CA$342).

Withings U-Scan brings a urine lab into your home

Your pee can tell a lot about your health, so Withings is banking on that with its new U-Scan device. This urine analyzer attaches to the front of your toilet like a scent puck. When you pee, it can collect a sample of your urine to analyze and send the results to your phone. 

It can monitor your hydration and nutrient levels, and test your urine's pH levels to determine your overall kidney health. You swap out the cartridges for it to track different things like one is used to track menstrual cycles. A cartridge is said to last for about three months of testing.
