Pedro Pascal gets ‘key role’ in upcoming ‘Wonder Woman’

You might know Pedro Pascal from his time playing Oberyn Martell in hit HBO series Game of Thrones or you might know him from his time on Netflix’s Narcos. And now you’ll get to see more of him as he plays a pivotal role for the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel. This will be the second time the actor will be working with director Patty Jenkins. The plot for the movie, which is slated for a Nov. 1, 2019 release, is still being kept under wraps so we can’t say what Pascal’s role will be in the film.

Kristen Wiig tipped to take on villain role in ‘Wonder Woman 2’

If rumours are anything to go by, it seems Warner Bros. has their eye on actress and comedian Kristen Wiig to take on the villain role in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. Wiig is being tipped to be the top choice to play Cheetah in the sequel but Warner Bros. isn’t commenting on the possible casting news. The movie is slated for a November 1, 2019 release so finding someone to fill in an important role is key.

According to insiders, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has always had Wiig on top of her list to play that part and she has let the actress know before she left to scout for locations for the film. Wiig reportedly had a recent meeting with top execs from Warner Bros. about this project. Guess we’ll find out soon enough if the next Wonder Woman film has found its baddie.

Patty Jenkins officially signs on as ‘Wonder Woman 2’ director

Warner Bros.

Wonder Woman’s sequel is getting its director back. Patty Jenkins has just signed on to the second film of the highly successful superhero film Wonder Woman. We’ve known for a while that Gal Gadot has coming back as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. But Jenkins was initially brought on to direct the first film only. It’s been reported that she was negotiating with Warner Bros. over her pay. Jenkins’ reportedly expects she be paid more than the first time around. She has leverage in this regard after Wonder Woman became the highest-grossing, live-action film directed by a woman. And it looks like she got what she wanted.

The exact number wasn’t unveiled but Variety’s sources say the number should be around the US$8 million dollar range to direct, write, and produce the film, making her the highest paid female director of all time. A substantial backend of box office grosses is also part of her contract. Jenkins is reportedly working on the sequel’s script with DC Comics President Geoff Johns. The sequel is set to premiere on December 13, 2019.

‘Wonder Woman 2’ gets officially announced

Clay Enos/Warner Bros

It isn’t something that surprises us in any way but at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. officially announces that Wonder Woman 2 is happening and Gal Gadot will be reprising her role as Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman. The first film is considered the DC Extended Universe’s most profitable movie yet with it grossing around US$767.7 million worldwide since it hit theatres on June 2nd. It quickly surpassed other DCEU films like Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad. It also broke records for director Patty Jenkins as the film became the highest-grossing live-action movie to be directed by a woman.

Speaking of Jenkins, Warner Bros. hasn’t announced yet if she’ll be coming back as her deal was for one movie. But she has spoken before about her plans for the sequel, where she wants to take Wonder Woman back to America. Here’s to hoping she gets to tell the tale again. No word on when the film might come out as well.
