SwiftKey raises 17.5 million in Series B funding to further its Android development

One of the driving catalysts in me becoming a devout Android user, aside from the customization, is having the ability to use SwiftKey as my on-screen keyboard. Simply put: it's the best money you'll ever spend on an app and should probably be the first thing you buy when you switch to Android and get yourself setup. SwiftKey is so good, in fact,  it also happens to provide the autocorrect software for onscreen keyboards found on BlackBerry 10 and Samsung devices.

Today, SwiftKey announced a new 17.5 million dollar Series B round of funding led by Index Ventures. This new round will help the UK-based developer further break into the North American market.

Review: 2013 Inifiniti FX37 Crossover

Text and photos by Corey Herscu

Lately, in terms of car reviews, it seems like when you drive one car (brand irrelevant), you've driven them all. Don't scoff, friends; unless we're talking engine performance, there isn't a lot a car company can do to really to innovate the in-car experience without forcing the consumer into spending top dollar. Of course, there are the anomalies to this rule (see the inside of the Tesla Model S), but that's a whole other conversation entirely.

Samsung confirms "Galaxy Gear" to be announced Sept. 4th

One of the worst kept secrets in technology, as of recent, has been that Samsung wants to venture into the world of 'wearable technology' with what was purported to be the "Galaxy Gear" line of devices. Well, it turns out Samsung is so excited to launch the line, that their own can't even keep it a secret anymore. In an interview with Korea Times, Lee Young-hee, Samsung’s EVP of mobile business, stated:

"We will be introducing a new wearable device concept called Galaxy Gear at our own event in Berlin on Sept. 4. The new device will enhance and enrich the current smart mobile experience in many ways. It will lead a new trend in smart mobile communications.”

The Galaxy "Gear" will be targeted specifically at young "on the go" professionals and will be available in a plethora of colors. Features of the watch include: 2.5-inch OLED full colour display (320 x 320 resolution), touchscreen gestures and accelerometer, dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos 4212 processor, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC.

Note that the image above is just a depiction of what the device will look like, not final product. Samsung has also stated that the "Gear" watch will not have a flexible display.
