Apple tipped to delay MacBook Air OLED launch

Photo: Apple

We might not see an OLED MacBook Air until four years from now. A new report from the Korean publication The Elec said Apple might not add an OLED screen to its MacBook Air line until 2028. The OLED MacBook Air was originally tipped to launch in 2027.

The report cited component industry sources claiming the postponement reflects growing production costs and pricing concerns. Apple is reportedly considering how this premium display technology could impact prices and keep people from buying. Apple hasn't responded to CNET to comment about the report.

Some Kindle Colorsoft units show a discoloured strip on the bottom

Photo: The Vloginator / Reddit

As Amazon started shipping its first coloured e-reader, some buyers found a defect on the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition. There's a yellow, discoloured strip showing up at the bottom of the screen. Complaints regarding this issue have started to show up online. A Reddit user posted a thread about this problem, saying it's most visible when the Kindle is "supposed to be evenly lit and colored like a piece of paper."

Amazon has acknowledged the issue and is looking into what's causing it. Amazon spokesperson Jill Tornifoglio told The Verge, "If customers notice this on their device, they can reach out to our customer service team." It's unclear how widespread the problem is and whether it's a hardware or software issue. But we'll most likely hear more about it soon.
