Green lines start showing up on some Apple iPhone X OLED screens

If you’re experiencing issues with your iPhone X, it’s best to bring it back to the store. Just like what some users are doing with the new Apple iPhone. Some units seem to be displaying a green line running vertically across the side of the display. It doesn’t show up immediately, instead it manifests after a while. GSMArena speculates the issue could be because of the display controller or because of a ribbon cable connecting the screen. We can’t say how widespread the issue is but hopefully it isn’t as far-reaching. Although with Apple adopting OLED for its phone for the first time it doesn’t come as a surprise to us that there are some issues with it. Apple hasn’t commented on the issue yet but those who did experience it were able to get their phones replaced under warranty.

Apple fires engineer after daughter’s hands-on video of the iPhone X goes viral

While the iPhone X is already available for pre-order, the phone is technically not out of the market yet and that has gotten one of the company’s engineers in trouble. A YouTube vlogger named Brooke Amelia Peterson posted a now taken down video of her hands-on with the iPhone X. She got her hands on the phone courtesy of her father who works as an engineer in the tech giant. The video was shot inside Apple’s cafeteria and understandably blew up on YouTube and ended up on the streaming site’s top trending videos list. And that unfortunately led to her dad getting fired from the company. In the video above, Peterson talks about what happened and she says at one point, “Apple let him go. At the end of the day, when you work for Apple, it doesn’t matter how good of a person you are. If you break a rule, they just have no tolerance.” She says she has no bitterness towards the company and she understands that they had to do what they had to do.

iPhone X pre-orders begin on October 27

The time to pre-order the iPhone X is close at hand. Canadians who want to ensure delivery of the completely redesigned iPhone flagship on November 3, will have their browsers or Apple Store apps locked and loaded on on Friday, October 27 at 12:01 a.m. PDT . That's 3:01 a.m. for us East Coast folks, which is pretty brutal but since a lot of people will presumably be calling in sick for the premiere of Stranger Things 2 on Netflix (that kicks in at midnight, y'all).

iPhone X is the statement device from Apple and the culmination of 10 years of iPhone evolution. While the company released the perfectly capable and similarly specced iPhone 8 last month, iPhone X brings a bezel with notch design (for FaceID) that removes the home button and uses facial recognition as as security and payments feature.

Demand for iPhone 8 wanes, Apple reportedly reduces production

Review: Apple iPhone 8 Plus

With the excitement surrounding the iPhone X, it seems to have overshadowed the new iPhone 8 devices. Reuters even quotes Rogers Communication’s chief executive who says demand for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have been “anemic.” This response from the public reportedly has Apple telling its suppliers in Taiwan to reduce production by nearly 50 percent in the following two months.

Apple’s shares fell nearly 3 percent on Thursday prompting analysts and investors to wonder about this staggered release of the company’s new devices. The iPhone X is expected to drop on November 3rd. However, there are analysts that think the weak iPhone 8 sales won’t hurt Apple’s overall phone production as well as its revenue and margins as consumers might still consider buying older models. Demand might also surge once the new iPhone comes out—but again, that might not be for the iPhone 8.
