Telsa will use Chromium for its in-car browser

It’s well-known that Tesla’s in-car browser has its share of issues. So, when someone brought this up with Elon Musk on Twitter, the company’s CEO says Tesla is going to upgrade the browser to Chromium. Google’s open-source browser project generates code for Chrome and other browsers or vendors outside of Google. This doesn’t mean Chrome is coming to Tesla, but it could mean the Chromium code will power the new browser. What isn’t known is when this will happen. It could be something that will come out soon or many years down the line. A recent update fixed some issues with the current browser, which should be enough for some users until Chromium version does come out.

Cheaper Chromebooks might be on their way

Chromebooks are generally affordable devices but they might be even more pocket-friendly with the use of a low-end chip. MediaTek has contributed code to Chromium operating system (the base for Chrome OS) to test a device running on an entry-level ARM Cortex-A7 processor.  Theoretically, this will create Chromeboxes and Chromebooks that would cost less than the usual US$200 price of these devices. However, this will also affect speed as the Cortex-A7 system can be quite sluggish. MediaTek has not said what they plan on doing with the code but this is just showing us what may lie ahead.

Chrome OS to power Google's cloud in 2010

Google recently announced its Chrome desktop OS that is set to launch in 2010.  What makes the Google OS is unique is that it works entirely inside the Google Chrome browser with tabs as the main means of navigation between programs.
