Apple announces new record of 10 million new iPhones sold in first 3 days

As expected, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus opening weekend broke sales records for Apple. The company is saying that 10 million units were sold over the first three days that the new devices were offered.

"Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn't be happier," said Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook. "We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible."

Yahoo Weather App brings slick animations to iOS 8

Yahoo has updated its iOS 8 Weather App to featurs accurate weather and slick animations. "By using technology typically only experienced in video games, we’re bringing weather to life on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch through animations that appear directly in the Yahoo Weather Today widget. It’s the same beautiful design and location-based weather photos from Flickr, now combined with amazing weather effects.

Now when you check the forecast during a hot summer day, you will actually see the haze come across your screen. You’ll also see the rain, snow, and fog –with even more effects coming soon," says Yahoo's Shenglong Gao, associate product manager for Mobile Weather.

Twitter revamps profiles, gets interactive push notifications for iOS 8

Twitter has readied itself for the arrival of iOS 8 with a new look for users’ profiles. Although, admittedly the new look is meant to replicate the image-heavy web profiles. The new profile still has a cover and profile photo but adds a simple white background to show off your bio. The bio was previously hidden to the right, where you had to swipe to see it. Twitter is putting everything front and center so you can see a user’s tweets, photos, and favorites.

The update also brings interactive push notifications so you can reply, favorite, follow, and retweet right from the notification.

Fast forward to 2014 and Apple has expanded their iOS device line considerably and there seems to be something for everyone.
