7 Uses for a smaller iPad

The highly anticipated iPad mini is expected out in a few hours. Aside from being a more portable and possibly (hopefully) cheaper tablet, I see various opportunities for a 7.8 tablet where a larger and more expensive iPad would be too big.

Case maker outs Apple's iPad Mini hours before official announcement

While the world anxiously awaits Apple's announcement later on today in San Jose, California. Hard Candy Cases sent out press releases and images promoting their new ShockDrop line of cases for the still unrevealed new iPad. A product page for the iPad Mini also appears on their website. iPad mini launch event is confirmed via media invites

Just as was reported a few days ago. Apple is planning a media event taking place on October 23rd at 10am PST/1pm EST at the California Center in San Jose.  Parsing the invitation, which reads "We've got a little more to show you," the 'little' pertains to the much awaited iPad mini. Also rumoured to make an appearance at the event are new Mac minis and quite possibly a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina Display. We'll know soon enough a week from today.

After months of rumours and speculation peppered by part leaks, 3D renderings and dummy devices, it looks like Apple is readying to unveil the much awaited iPad mini.  A report from Reuters  states that Apple will release a smaller and less costly iPad mini with a 7.85-inch screen. the device is expected to compete against popular tablets like Amazon's Kindle Fire, RIM's PlayBook and Google's Nexus 7.
