Amazon reportedly wants to develop a 'Mass Effect' TV show

EA/BioWare

Amazon Studios' next fantasy series might be based on Electronic Arts and BioWare's Mass Effect franchise. There are no details about this rumour. But Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke told Deadline it is "continuing to invest in fantasy genre of all kinds, we have a genre-focused team on the ground in Studios who work tirelessly with our creative partners on those slates, and you can look forward to more."

This isn't the first rumour about the franchise, though. EA recently said the TV series is "not a matter of if, but when." The Witcher star Henry Cavill hinted at the series in a cryptic Instagram post earlier this year. If this rumour mill keeps turning, we might just hear more about it sooner than later.

'The Art of the Mass Effect Trilogy' book now up for pre-order

If you're a fan of Mass Effect, you might want to check out this new art book about the games. The Art of the Mass Effect Trilogy: Expanded Edition is now available for pre-order, with a release date of February 23, 2021. It promises to include never-before-seen works of art and "contains extensive new material from the DLCs for all three games—including the award-winning Lair of the Shadow Broker from Mass Effect 2 and the fan-favourite Citadel from Mass Effect 3." On Amazon Canada, the hardcover goes for $53.99.

While these kinds of books aren't unexpected, EuroGamer points out that there have been rumours that BioWare is working on a remaster of the three Mass Effect games. Could this mean the book launch coincides with the release of the remaster?

There will be no DLC for ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’

Plagued with various problems from the development phase to its launch, Mass Effect: Andromeda is being abandoned of sorts by BioWare. Five months after the game was released, the studio announced it won’t be releasing any new downloadable content for the game. In their announcement they say, “Our last update, 1.10, was the final update for Mass Effect: Andromeda. There are no planned future patches for single-player or in-game story content.” The only part of the game that might get some tweaks is in multiplayer content, including plans for N7 Day, which is coming in a few weeks.

‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ isn’t getting a single-player DLC

If you have been waiting for a single-player DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda, then we’re sorry to disappoint you but that isn’t going to happen. Earlier this week, a fake company called Sinclair Networks claimed on a Facebook post to have been working on a single-player, story-based DLC for the title until it was killed. BioWare producers were quick to dispute this saying that they don’t hire “fake companies” to work on their DLCs and they haven’t heard of Sinclair Networks.

Even with that news, it looks like there wasn’t even a DLC in the works in the first place. As Slash Gear points out, this marks a big change from the original Mass Effect trilogy, which always had expansions. EA won’t release any official announcements yet but it’s safe to say that an Andromeda DLC isn’t in our future, especially since the Mass Effect franchise is on hold indefinitely due to this game’s mediocre reviews.
