NBA, Microsoft Canada launches second creators program for Canadian artists

The National Basketball Association has partnered again with Microsoft Canada for the second "NBA Creators presented by Microsoft" program. This design-focused initiative wants to increase the exposure of different Canadian artists. Illustrators and graphic designers in Canada who identify as Black, Indigenous, Asian, Hispanic, or Latinx can apply to the program by visiting NBA.com/Creators

Microsoft doubles down on Canadian investment with downtown Toronto HQ announcement

Microsoft Canada announced it will move its Canadian headquarters to a new space in the heart of downtonw Toronto in 2020. The new facility on Bay Street will be located at the new CIBC Square and will span four floors in the 132,000 square-foot space. 

The future home will also include a new state-of-the-art Microsoft Technology Centre that will serve partners, customers as well as a learning centre for school-aged youth. The move is just one of a series of significant investments Microsoft is making. These investments will enable an expansion of Microsoft's Canadian operations, including increasing staff, modernizing its real estate, and growing its research lab in Montreal that is focused on artificial intelligence.

BC Cancer partners with Microsoft to answer cancer’s most complex questions and bring hope to patients

Microsoft Canada and BC Cancer have established a game-changing partnership that is answering cancer’s most complex questions at a rate never thought possible. Fuelled by advances in molecular biology, genomics and computer science, BC Cancer researchers are applying a radically investigative approach known as single cell genomics to analyze the millions of individual cells that make up cancer, made possible by cloud computing.

Together, BC Cancer’s single cell genomics expertise and Microsoft’s innovative computing resources will accelerate the pace of research to understand cancer at a granular level, and bring hope to British Columbians facing cancer.

Canadian Designer Hayley Elsaesser's Creative Class with Microsoft Surface

When it comes to sharing the creative process, Canadian fashion designer Hayley Elsaesser tells us she’s super excited.  At a recent creative class hosted by Microsoft Canada, Hayley shared how Microsoft's Surface is very much a part of her design and overall business process.

Following the success of the Toronto Fashion Week show this past Spring where she included her Cosmic Dread collection, Hayley reached out to Microsoft Canada and mentioned that she really wanted to share her experience with a few of Toronto’s creative industry. The idea that creating stuff on the Surface is so easy for her, she felt passionate about showing others what it can do.
