Are we getting an ‘Avengers’-themed OnePlus 6?

Last year, OnePlus drew attention for its Star Wars-branded OnePlus 5T. And it looks like they might try this again with another Disney-owned title: Avengers. A video got posted on OnePlus India’s Facebook page that showed a teaser of OnePlus and Avengers logo. It seems to have been wrongfully published as it was taken down soon after. It hints though that the OnePlus 6 might be heading our way sooner than we think with Avengers: Infinity War heading to theatres this April 27. Perhaps OnePlus will use this opportunity to launch its newest flagship? We can’t say just yet. We also can’t tell whether this will be another India exclusive or it’ll get a wider release. We have a few more weeks before we find out. But we’re keeping our eyes peeled.

Some of the rumoured specs of the next OnePlus flagship include Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and 256GB storage. It’ll have a notch and may get different finishes for the back.

The company set aside a specific number of units per market and once that number is reached, they didn’t have plans to restock. OnePlus claims they hadn’t expected to reach that number until another few weeks, indicating a stronger-than-expected demand for the phone. Now, either you try to look for re-sellers or used phones to get one, that our you can wait for the rumoured OnePlus 6, which is expected to come out in the second quarter of the year.

OnePlus 6 specs get leaked

OnePlus 6 isn’t coming out soon but speculation about what will power the device is already going around. The Verge reports about a post on Chinese site Weibo that enumerates the specs of the upcoming OnePlus flagship. And it looks like it has the specs of a 2018 phone, as expected. It’ll supposedly have a 6.2-inch display with a notch and it’ll run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage. The OnePlus 6 is rumoured to be getting dual rear-facing cameras one will be a 12-megapixel sensor and the other a 20-megapixel one. It will also supposedly have OnePlus’s proprietary Dash Charge feature. As for its looks, The Verge speculates it could look like the OPPO R15 with both companies sharing the same owner. But the leaked photo of the device shows at least a different design for the rear.

OnePlus copies Xiaomi and pits OxygenOS against pure Android in Twitter poll, loses gracefully

Nothing beats pure Android experience, at least for a lot of users. Chinese company Xiaomi set to find out if its own MIUI 9 interface can beat out the pure Android One UI. Android One beat out MIUI 9 with the final result at 57% for Android One and the MIUI 9 getting 43%. While the results were expected, especially with Android fans wanting to get as close to stock Android as they can get, Xiaomi’s response was curious. The company deleted the poll three days after it put it up on February 7, perhaps out of shame for losing.

A couple of days after Xiaomi took down the poll, OnePlus seemed to have wanted to try the same thing out. The results were almost similar to Xiaomi’s with 58% leaning towards pure Android and 42% for OxygenOS. But OnePlus was a more gracious loser as evidenced by what happened after. The company’s CEO Carl Pei tweeted “Don’t delete this poll,” taking a jab perhaps at Xiaomi’s response to its results. The OnePlus employee who put up the poll even said they appreciated the response and that it “motivates” them to work on OxygenOS more.
