OnePlus releases OxygenOS Open Beta 3 for the 5T, introduces iPhone X-like gestures and removes Clipboard

The latest beta build for the OnePlus 5T brings some important new features to the device. One addresses the controversial issue surrounding the Clipboard functionality of the phone. The Chinese company simply took out the feature, which they say they’ve done based on user feedback. Aside from this, OxygenOS Open Beta 3 introduces new navigation gestures that are reminiscent of the iPhone X’s. You can activate these through Settings and disabling the navigation bar. The Home button vanishes and you can swipe up from the middle part of the bottom of the display to access apps. You can go back by swiping up from the left or right bottom part of the screen. If you want to access the multitasking screen, you just swipe up from the middle and hold.

OnePlus has also included a security patch to get additional protection against Spectre vulnerability alongside other bug fixes and improvements. If you’re already using beta, the update should come to your device via an over-the-air update. If you want to try beta out, you’ll need to read flashing instructions from this link.

Face Unlock shows up on OxygenOS beta build for the OnePlus 3/3T

We already know OnePlus had plans to bring Face Unlock to the older OnePlus 3 and 3T. Now, the feature is coming to these phones through the OxygenOS beta build. It’s available through Open Beta 30 for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 21 for the OnePlus 3T. The update also brings with it OnePlus Switch app for backup & restore, as well as other changes. As GSMArena points out, there’s a possibility the update might not work with some third-party camera apps. And as with any beta build, things might go a bit awry every now and then so be prepared for that to happen.

The ‘OnePlus 6’ powered by Snapdragon 845 set to make June debut

Late in 2017, a rumoured list showing the upcoming devices that will come out with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor got leaked. One of the devices included there is the “OnePlus 6,” which was said to be launching in June. Now, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirms the news. Lau said they have “no other choice” when it comes to picking what processor to use for the upcoming device. While he hasn’t called the device the OnePlus 6, logic dictates that will be what the company will call its upcoming device. The launch is supposedly happening late in the second quarter, which ends on June 30. We can’t also confirm if a “6T” version is coming, but judging from what the company has done in the past couple of years, the possibility is there.
