Samsung officially launches the Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy Note 10 Lite

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite

Samsung has officially unveiled the Lite versions of last year's flagships. The Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite offer compelling features at what's expected to be more affordable price points. We can't say the price because Samsung hasn't released the price yet.

The two handsets share some features, including 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O displays with a 2,400 x 1,080 resolution, punch-hole cutouts for the selfie cameras at the top center of the phones, 4,500mAh batteries, either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB internal storage. The designs are somewhat similar, with a rectangular camera module at the back. But the rest of its features are different.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite leaked user manual corroborates past design leaks

Samsung has yet to confirm that it will launch the “Lite” version of the Galaxy S10 but there have been tons of rumours about the device. The latest leak is the Portuguese user manual, which confirms the previous leaks about the handset. The rumoured device will also sport what looks like Samsung’s design language moving in 2020: a punch-hole display and the rectangular camera module on the back. We’ve seen this design implemented on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy A51 and A71.

The manual shows the Galaxy S10 Lite sporting an in-display fingerprint scanner, a power button and volume rocker on the right side, SIM and microSD slot on the left, and USB-C port at the bottom. The phone will also supposedly have MST and NFC to support Samsung Pay. What seems to be missing is a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Patent shows what the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite could look like

While patents don't necessarily show final products, they do offer us a hint of what's possibly coming. A license granted to Samsung by the US Patent and Trademark Office gives us a sneak peek at the potential design of the rumoured Galaxy S10 Lite. The specs still seem to be similar to the upcoming Galaxy A91, but the design is a cross between the Galaxy S10+ and S9.

The front features a dual-camera setup in that punch-hole display style on the upper right corner, while at the back, there is two camera setup as well, but the sensors are placed vertically with an LED light on the right. Now, whether Samsung sticks to this design or not, we'll have to wait and see.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite rumoured specs spotted in Geekbench listing

The rumoured Galaxy A91, which reportedly have similar specs as the Galaxy S10 Lite

If the recent listing on Geekbench holds any truth, it looks like Samsung is working on another Galaxy S10 device. This time it comes with the "Lite" name, which usually means it's the more affordable version of the flagship Galaxy S line. Not much was known about the device until a new Geekbench 5 listing shows a Samsung device with the SM-G770F model, which is said to be the rumoured device.

An interesting spec attached to this model is that it'll run on the same Snapdragon 855 processor as the more premium S10 devices as well as 8GB of RAM and Android 10. What's more interesting is that it gets 724 points in the single-core department and 2,604 points in the multi-core test, which means, at least in terms of synthetic benchmarks, it's more powerful than the Exynos and Snapdragon version of the regular S10.
