Quick holiday tips from Waze

‘Tis the season for gift shopping and giving, all kinds of festivities, and traffic, tons of it. Waze has a couple of tips to help you avoid the extra stress the season brings. According to the traffic and navigation app, the busiest time and day for Canadian roads across the country last year was December 22 between three and five in the afternoon. For those in smaller metros like Collingwood, Ontario and Canmore, Alberta, they see a significant rise in traffic this time of the year with double the number of Waze users on the road.

Now, if you want to get yourself in the spirit of the season, Waze and Spotify has some interesting nuggets to share about this. The most requested song unsurprisingly is Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You. But the three other extremely popular tracks are It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas by Michael Bublé, What Child Is This by Lindsey Stirling, and Noel – Live by Chris Tomlin.

Waze and the City of Toronto sharing traffic data to help motorists navigate better

Toronto Mayor Tory announced the City of Toronto will become the next partner in Waze’s Connected Citizen’s Program. This is to help alleviate the growing traffic situation in the GTA.  Last month, .Waze’s third-annual Driver Satisfaction Index found that Toronto drivers are the second-least satisfied of all Canadian cities surveyed

The partnership will create a two-way data flow between Waze and the City of Toronto, benefiting drivers all over the GTA. Waze will have access to the city’s real-time data, better helping drivers to avoid road closures, construction and traffic jams while Toronto will receive anonymous driving data from Waze’s more than 560,000 drivers in the GTA, giving the city additional visibility into traffic patterns for decision making.

Honda and Waze team up to increase driver awareness in school zones

Honda and Waze have partnered to create better awareness for drivers in school zones. Using Waze’s pop-up feature, motorists will receive alerts every time they enter a school zone across Canada, urging them to pay attention and stay focused on the road.

Waze is a turn-by-turn navigation app that uses crowdsourced traffic data to provide drivers with fast, efficient routes. It focuses on real-time updates, alerting users to congestion, accidents and other driving obstacles as they occur. Now, incorporating school zone data, Waze (with Honda’s help) will keep its 1.2 million drivers more aware of and help prevent dangers to Canadian children.
