Orlando, FL: Research in Motion's President and CEO Thorsren Heins had his coming out party today and tried to give visitors and developers here in BlackBerry World a feel for where the company was headed. BlackBerry 10, the unified tablet and smartphone OS that was officially launched here was previewed briefly on the new developer Alpha devices which are slate-smartphones that resemble Apple's iPhone 4 but which take all of their materials, design and features from the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Confirmed here at Blackberry World during a Canadian Breakfast a few hours before the main keynote is the new BlackBerry PlayBook with 4G LTE. The updated tablet will sport an updated 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and will have NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled from the get go. It will likely look very much like the current PlayBook. Stay tuned for more from BlackBerry World 2012.
The keynote is over now and no LTE PlayBook has been announced yet. Above is the slide showing some details of the device.
We're a few hours away from the opening keynote here at BlackBerry World 2012 in Orlando and we will soon know what will be revealed. In the meantime, RIM has shared some fun Canadian Facts about BlackBerry.
