L’Oréal introduces a motorized lipstick applicator for those with limited mobility

Source: L’Oréal

One of the new devices L’Oréal had to show off at CES 2023 is designed to help those with limited mobility apply makeup. L’Oréal's Lancôme brand will pilot the HAPTA system this year, starting with this lipstick applicator. The brand has plans to offer more makeup applications in the future. HAPTA is based on the tech from Alphabet-owned Verily that levels utensils and keeps them stable to help those with limited hand and arm mobility eat on their own.

The system offers smart motion controls and customizable attachments for precise application. It also has 360 degrees of rotation and 180 degrees of flexion. L’Oréal says the attachments are connected magnetically, and you can click them into place. HAPTA also allows for "increased ease of use for difficult-to-open packaging." You can get an hour of use out of a single charge, which should equal 10 or more applications. Charging time takes around three hours.

HyperX plans to release limited-edition runs and collaborations.

HyperX noted that the 3D-printed products use an "environmentally friendly" process involving powered nylon. The company wants to use this new HX3D line to collaborate with "game developers, esports teams, content creators, influencers, and internal creative teams" to design "fan-friendly products that can be used while gaming or collected as keepsakes or cherished collectibles." The HyperX Cozy Cat Keycap will be available later this month for US$19.99 (around CA$25). TCL RayNeo X2 AR glasses will start shipping to developers early this year

Source: TCL

TCL continues to build on its augmented reality glasses ambition. The new pair it showed off at CES 2023 still isn't as "subtle" as it claims. But for now, the TCL RayNeo X2 AR isn't being made for consumers anyway. It's still a developer platform meant to grow over time as the tech gets better. TCL wants to recruit developers to prepare for its eventual release, with the dev kit being offered to software makers "in select regions" by the end of the first quarter.
