Meet the AirLight Pro, L’Oréal’s new hairdryer that mimics the sun and wind

L’Oréal, known for unveiling innovative beauty products at CES, is introducing a new hairdryer called the AirLight Pro. It uses infrared light and airflow to dry hair faster and more gently than conventional heat.

The AirLight Pro is inspired by how the sun and wind dry rain, says Guive Balooch, L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator vice president. The infrared light evaporates water on the hair surface while preserving moisture inside the strand. The light also has a hydrating effect on hair, unlike UV light.

L’Oréal introduces a motorized lipstick applicator for those with limited mobility

Source: L’Oréal

One of the new devices L’Oréal had to show off at CES 2023 is designed to help those with limited mobility apply makeup. L’Oréal's Lancôme brand will pilot the HAPTA system this year, starting with this lipstick applicator. The brand has plans to offer more makeup applications in the future. HAPTA is based on the tech from Alphabet-owned Verily that levels utensils and keeps them stable to help those with limited hand and arm mobility eat on their own.

The system offers smart motion controls and customizable attachments for precise application. It also has 360 degrees of rotation and 180 degrees of flexion. L’Oréal says the attachments are connected magnetically, and you can click them into place. HAPTA also allows for "increased ease of use for difficult-to-open packaging." You can get an hour of use out of a single charge, which should equal 10 or more applications. Charging time takes around three hours.

L'Oreal Colorsonic improves the hair dyeing experience at home

If there's one creature comfort we've missed while in this pandemic, it's being able to dye or get our hair styled in a salon. Almost two years since it started, L'Oreal plans to offer a solution with a new hair dye magic wanted it introduced at CES 2022.

The L'Oreal Colorsonic is a handheld device that makes the hair colouring process more consistent and less messy. It uses recyclable cartridges of dye inserted into the handle. It then mixes and distributes the product to the oscillating nozzle. All you need to do is brush the Colorsonic over your hair like you would any comb and allow the dye to be deposited onto your hair. The nozzle moves 300 times per minute to cover the hair effectively. Those with hair that grows past their shoulders can use an included attachment.
